Policies & Safeguarding
Creating safe, honoring spaces—online and in person.
As a digital-first, human-led church, we care deeply about safety, integrity, and honoring one another. This page gives a simple overview of how we seek to protect children, vulnerable adults, and our whole community in Via Vitae spaces.
Our Commitments
We commit to:
Treat every person with dignity, respect, and care.
Promote safe, honoring interactions in all Via Vitae spaces (online and in-person).
Take concerns about abuse, harm, or misconduct seriously.
Encourage appropriate use of spiritual authority and leadership.
Continually improve our policies and practices over time.
Community Guidelines
In Via Vitae gatherings, groups, and online spaces, we ask everyone to:
Be honest, kind, and respectful in words and actions.
Avoid harassment, bullying, hateful language, or personal attacks.
Honor confidentiality when someone shares vulnerably in a group.
Use wisdom and boundaries when sharing personal information online.
Posts or behaviors that harm others or clearly violate these principles may be removed, and in some cases access to certain spaces may be limited.
Prayer & Pastoral Care
We believe in the power of prayer and in wise, compassionate care. At the same time, we recognize our limits. We are not a replacement for medical, legal, or mental-health professionals.
Prayer requests are shared only with the prayer and care teams you authorize.
We focus on spiritual encouragement, Scripture, and practical next steps — not professional medical, legal, or financial advice.
If we become aware that someone may be in danger of harming themselves or others, or experiencing abuse, we may encourage or initiate contact with appropriate local authorities or services.
Online Safety
Because Via Vitae is digital-first, many of our interactions happen online (YouTube, Facebook, forms, email, and digital groups). To help protect yourself and others:
Do not share passwords, financial information, or highly sensitive personal details in public spaces.
Be cautious when clicking links from people you don’t know.
Report suspicious messages or behavior to the platform (YouTube, Facebook, etc.) and to us if it involves someone representing Via Vitae.
We will never ask you to send money directly to an individual through DMs or private messages.
Children & Vulnerable Adults
We take the safety of children and vulnerable adults seriously.
Public content from Via Vitae is generally created for adults, although it may be watched together as a family.
Any future children’s or youth environments (online or in-person) will follow additional safeguards and screening for leaders.
If you ever have concerns about the safety of a child or vulnerable adult connected to Via Vitae, please let us know and also follow local reporting laws in your area.
Data & Privacy
We treat your information with care. When you submit a form (for example, a Prayer & Care request or Circle interest form), we use your details only to follow up on that request and to communicate with you about Via Vitae.
We do not sell your personal information. For more details, see our Privacy Policy.
AI & Teaching Transparency
Via Vitae is digital-first and AI-assisted, but human-led. We use AI tools to help draft and narrate content, yet we believe teaching and pastoral care must remain accountable to real people and to Scripture.
Sermon narration may be AI-assisted.
All teaching content is written or reviewed by our pastoral team for clarity and faithfulness to Scripture.
AI tools never replace human responsibility for doctrine, care, or decisions.
Reporting Concerns
If you see or experience something in a Via Vitae space that feels unsafe, inappropriate, or out of step with the way of Jesus, we want to know.
You can:
Use the Prayer & Care form to share a concern (mark it clearly as a safeguarding concern), or
Contact us at: pastor@viavitaechurch.org.
We will review what you share, pray, and take appropriate next steps.
Closing
Safeguarding is an ongoing journey, not a one-time policy. As Via Vitae grows, we will continue to refine these guidelines and practices, seeking to reflect the character of Jesus in how we care for one another.
